WHAT YOU MISSED: Thrillist Martini Week

Monday night Laura from 89th and Broke (and Von from Socially Superlative swung by later) and I stopped by their kick-off happy hour at The Kitchen NYC, where I found live demos from top mixologists crafting their own Bombay Sapphire and Grey Goose martini cocktails. Pretty waitresses in blue dresses also wandered around the venue, offering mini martinis and hors d’oeurves from Top Chef’s Cynthia Sestito, who could be seen hurriedly preparing her little treats behind an exposed kitchen.


In case you are ill-informed, Martini Week is a citywide celebration taking place from April 4-17th, 2011, during which 16 of Thrillist’s favorite bars and restaurants offer their own unique interpretation of a classic Gin or Vodka Martini. They all cost about $11, but price does vary from $8 - 24.


One thing that does puzzle me is why it's called Martini "Week" when it runs for TWO weeks. For future events I suggest, perhaps, "Festival" or "Fortnight," but as someone pointed out to me in conversation my ideas don't sound as good as "week." She has a point.

Anyway, to claim the deal, which runs each day from 5:30pm – 8:30pm, simply tell the bartender that you've arrived for your Martini Week cocktail.
